Scott Lemonier, a New Orleans native who now lives in Madisonville, La., is a former newspaper copy editor of 26 years and a lifelong artist who is now using his skills to write, illustrate and edit children's books. His debut children's picture book, "Mary and the Octopus: A Children's Tale of Dubious Friendship," has earned praise from readers and retail book buyers alike. "Having six children has pretty much forced me to become a discerning fan of children's literature, and it's always a pleasure to help writers bring their stories to life, whether it's through editing or illustrating."
